Birds In St Aidans RSPB

St Aidens has many species of birds along the wetlands and is a great place to go for a nice walk. Recently, there has been an Osprey staying there on it's long migrations. St Aidan also has a resident Little Owl, which can be seen very often around the entrance on piles of wood. It is often there sleeping during the day as little owls are mostly nocturnal. If you come around Summer and early Autumn you can see whinchat, but you can see stonechats all year round. There have been bitterns seen around the reeds and there have also a number of bearded reelings hopping around the reedbeds. There are many other remarkable birds in this little RSPB habitat in Wakefield, such as reed buntings, woodpeckers, wigeon, pochard, slavonian grebe, and black-necked grebe.
